High Resolution Nvd Diierencing Scheme for Arbitrarily Unstructured Meshes

چکیده
The issue of boundedness in the discretisation of the convection term of transport equations has been widely discussed. A large number of local adjustment practices has been proposed, including the well-known TVD and NVD families of diierencing schemes. All of those use some sort of an \unboundedness indicator" in order to determine the parts of the domain where intervention in the discretisation practice is needed. These, however, all use the \far upwind" value for each face under consideration, which is not appropriate for unstructured meshes. This paper proposes a modiication of the NVD criterion which localises it and thus makes it applicable irrespective of the mesh structure, thus facilitating the implementation of \standard" bounded diierencing schemes on unstructured meshes. Based on this strategy, a new bounded version of Central Diier-encing constructed on the compact computational molecule is proposed and its performance is compared with other popular diierencing schemes on several model problems.

Hydrodynamic and N-body Schemes On An Unstructured, Adaptive Mesh with Applications to Cosmological Simulations
The theory and application of numerical methods for unstructured meshes have been improved significantly in recent years. Because the grids can be place arbitrarily in space, unstructured meshes can provide much higher spatial resolution than regular meshes. The built-in nature of mesh adaptivity for unstructured meshes gives one way to simulate highly dynamic, hierarchical problems involving b...
متن کاملA Study of Cell{center Finite Volume Methods for Diiusion Equations
We discuss four cell{center nite volume schemes for diierencing diiusion equations. Numerical results are presented for comparing the performance of these schemes on a number of meshes with varying degrees of skewness. It is shown that both the new continuous edge ux scheme and the existing vertex ux scheme are very stable and generate second order or nearly second order accurate results on mod...

Yee’s scheme for the solution of the Maxwell equations [1] and the MAC algorithm for the solution of the Navier–Stokes equations [2] are examples of co-volume solution techniques. Co-volume methods, which are staggered in both time and space, exhibit a high degree of computationally efficiency, in terms of both CPU and memory requirements compared to, for example, a finite element time domain m...
متن کاملNovel Algorithms for Modeling Sedimentation and Compaction using 3D Unstructured Meshes
In this paper, we discuss some novel techniques for modeling sedimentation and compaction using fully unstructured meshes. The numerical modeling of the sedimentation process is a critical part of basin simulation and synthetic stratigraphy modeling. Normally, structured curvilinear meshes are used to represent sedimentary sequences to be deposited during the simulation. Using this approach, 2D...
متن کاملA refined volume-of-fluid algorithm for capturing sharp fluid interfaces on arbitrary meshes
This paper presents a new volume-of-fluid scheme (M-CICSAM), capable of capturing abrupt interfaces on meshes of arbitrary topology, which is a modification to the Compressive Interface Capturing Scheme for Arbitrary Meshes (CICSAM) proposed in the recent literature. Without resort to any explicit interface reconstruction, M-CICSAM is able to precisely model the complex free surface deformation...
